California data center projects in government records, 2026

9 data center projects found in California government records dated April 26 to October 26, 2026: five pending Energy Commission backup generator exemption cases, two Energy Commission notices on CEQAnet recording Bay Area Air District generator permits, and city records in San Jose and El Segundo. 7 of the 9 records state a generator count, and two of those are issued air permits. Every project links to its government record.

CEQAnet's keyword search could not be used automatically, so air permit and CEQA notices were found only through the Energy Commission's project list and web searches. Santa Clara city records were checked only by title search, and Imperial County, Kern County planning, Sacramento and most Los Angeles area cities had no in window project record we could open. This is a sample, not a complete list.
